Learning Objectives

 

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

 

  • Differentiate between residential and commercial electrical systems in terms of design, capacity, and safety.
  • Identify and describe the function of key electrical components, including service panels, transformers, switchgear, and low-voltage systems.
  • Recognize common installation issues, deferred maintenance indicators, and safety violations during commercial inspections.
  • Evaluate the presence and functionality of emergency power systems including generators, UPS units, and ATS equipment.
  • Apply a systematic inspection methodology to assess grounding, wiring, lighting, and receptacle systems.
  • Understand limitations of visual-only inspections and appropriately document deficiencies for referral.
